Krismine's post is inspiring and really really speaks out all of the dancers feelings . I sincerely hope you people who had laughed at us and mocked us about our dance read it , and question your own conscience. As quoted from Krismine's blog : "Then when we were the first cca to be awarded gold, all the comments come straight into my face. The judges were not blind, they are a whole new batch of overseas judges, secondly, the other schools, probably tens of them, all came to compete and they weren’t lousy. Not because the other schools were lousy so we got gold. Singapore Chinese girl school got gold with honour. Anglican High got bronze. There were around three golds, two gold with honour, many silver and bronze. So the judges were blind is it? After this I broke down. Its not at all weird. Because really my dance group suffered a lot throughout this. We had many depressing moments. We got looked down by others. We tried our best from bronze to silver. Shouldn’t the school be proud and happy for us? Why all the nasty comments. You all don’t seem to have attended SYF competitions before. Don’t you know how strong the competition is? Don’t you know how many schools there are fighting for the gold you’re aiming for? Really, such little bit of trust, cant we have some? Dancers are not bitches. We are trying our very best. The costume and makeup are awarded marks too don’t you know? So we really aren’t a bunch of bitches who dolls up and wears sexy costumes and know nothing about dance." Powerful isnt it, hahaha . My turn . Now isnt there something about the judges being blind ? First of all , I'd let you know , the judges are from all over the world. They dont just come from Singapore alone. They are professionals who teaches and specialises in dance and they specially took the time off to come down to judge this year's SYF. This is a new batch of judges with higher expectations. Lets see , from all that we've heard , only 2 schools were awarded Gold with Honours , 3 schools with Gold and the rest were Bronze and Silver. Now , even MJC, who got a Gold in 2007, has dropped to Silver. Do you call that judges being blind? No, i dont think so. And to those who said that the other schools werent that good, please note that Singapore Chinese Girls School and Assumption English School got Gold with Honours , and both of these schools had always won Gold with Honours. The other schools were never lousy , and believe me, i was there, i've seen how the other school performances are. They werent as lousy as you think, in fact, i think they're much much better as compared to us. There was more synchronisation within them then us, their movements were sharper then us. How we won, prolly we would have to ask MrsLim when she receives the email from the judges commenting about our dance. Indirectly, you're putting other schools down. Dancers are not stuck-up and proud bitches who go around announcing that we've gotten a gold. I know many of you guys think we are. This is people's mindset, we cant change it. But, try understanding how we feel. We're just happy for ourselves because of the amount of time and effort we've put in this SYF. We got the reward we deserved. Sure, we got a gold, we announced it, do you guys have to take it to heart ? Prolly everybody thinks its a big joke that dance got a gold. But the fact is, we did get it , even if you choose to not believe it, its a fact. Yes, you guys are all shocked 'cause of the big jump from a Bronze to a Gold. Its a big jump, this, we all know. But does it really matter? All we know is that we've done our best, and we were trying to prove to the school, we dancers can do better than the rest of you guys had expected from us. We performed for you guys during assembly and speech day. What did you all gave us back? A roar of laughter, criticisms, sarcastic remarks. You dont know how unwilling we are to perform for the school because we've known this would happened. Nevertheless, we went on with it. Sure, nobody forced us to do it, but since we're involved in it, why not make the best of it. The worst was, you all laughing at the bigger-sized ones. Is it that funny? Bigger-sized does not mean that they cant dance. It doesnt mean that only skinny and slim people can dance. They've mustered up alot of courage to perform for you all, and they get laughed by the whole school ? Its not funny okay. You all dont know how it feels to get laughed at by the whole school. And you all judged us to get a c.o.p just because of the assembly performance? Seriously, if you have the basic common sense, you should have known that the school stage was DAMN BLOODY SMALL. Imagine 23 people , plus 4 chairs are sharing the stage. There isnt enough space. If you really thought of it, the real stage is OBVIOUSLY bigger than that stage. So what. The whole school had already thought dance was a goner, we're going to get a c.o.p. Well, we've proved you wrong. All wrong. The whole school didnt believed in us, but we overcamed it, we believed in ourselves and we did it. Perhaps you all should think back about your behaviours. Dance does not mean just moving around on the stage. Its not just meant to be seen, its meant to be felt with the heart, only then will you know the true meaning of the dance. Guess not much people actually understand the true meaning of dance. I respect this cca, i love this cca. Maybe you all think dance is a cca which you can slack in an aircon-ed room. But you're wrong. This isnt the case. Still remembering a few months ago before SYF, i dreaded going to trainings alot. I hated the torture, i hated repeating the steps over and over again. I hated doing the stretches, i just hated. Now, after everything's over, im missing all these practices. 'Cause through all these practices, i've gained many friendships, the team bond got stronger, we all got closer. All this cant be bought with just money or anything. In the beginning , the torture was needed, we needed the push. Now look where we are. We've accomplished something big, all the torturing practices was worth it. Maybe the juniors would think we're proud 'cause our batch got a gold. But what they dont know is , we're just preparing them for the even more torturing sessions that will come sooner or later when SYF is held in 2 years time. Prolly they would think that we cant even dance properly whats more to say them. Yes, we arent the best dancers around. We all know that. But we're telling you guys from experience, that all this trainings are worth it. If we dont start now, then when. This is just a post about how i feel. You dont need to comment on anything, tyvm. YoursSincerely, Jamie . No matter what the school says, i still love you dancers alot , must keep in contact ah ! ^^ I realised nowadays all my post(s) are all about dance, hahahahas . Aku love dance alotalot now , yayness :D |
